What we are committed to and How we are doing it
MISSION STATEMENT
The Hampton Yacht Club Foundation is a corporation organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.
The Foundation promotes participation in boating, education and environmental awareness through collaborative programming, fundraising and community partnerships. The mission includes​​

supporting amateur youth sailing, youth sailing instruction, water safety instruction, amateur youth sailboat racing, boating and marine education and other activities conducted through the Junior Sailing Program operated by the Hampton Yacht Club,
​

supporting adult sailing, sailing instruction, water safety instruction, sailboat racing, boating and marine education and other activities conducted for the benefit of the members of HYC and the general public, and
​
-
supporting other boating and maritime-related activities.
The Foundation achieves its Mission through several initiatives, including
​

supporting the Junior Sailing program at HYC, including by providing needs-based scholarships to support participants in the program’s various sailing camps,
​
-
working with organizations which emphasize youth learn-to-sail, especially for youth who would not normally have an opportunity to learn to sail, including by providing needs-based scholarships to these youths, and
​
-
working with youth sailing programs to encourage their students to participate in youth sailing racing at HYC, including by providing needs-based scholarships to these youths if needed.
2024 and 2025 PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Thanks to you, your Foundation accomplished the following in 2024 and 2025, awarding more than $23,600 in Grants and Scholarships:

$5,600 in Bumps/Foundation Scholarships for 14 weeks of Junior Sailing Classes for 9 new sailors – including graduating our first Opti learn-to-sail sailor into the Green Fleet Racing Team
​

$2,400 in a Grant to fund the 2024 Junior Sailing c420 Fall Clinics -- the Clinics were open for free to eligible area High School students and to HYC-member Junior Sailors
​

$2,100 in a Grant to fund the purchase of 8 Opti Training Sails
​

$9,520 in Grants and Scholarships to help HYC's own Team USA bring home the Bronze from the Opti Team Cup World Championships in Berlin, Germany -- $8,400 in a Grant to pay for all Coach related expenses, the charter of a Safety Rib, the charter of 5 Optis and the Registration Fee and $1,120 in Scholarships to the 5 racers

$4,000 to the Opti Racing Team, and to Non-Opti racers, as Travel Expense Scholarships to assist with their costs for major Regattas
